Eisenach, 23 August 2013 – Opel brings this day an Adam with LPG conversion (liquefied petroleum gas) on the market. The modified drive is to significantly reduce fuel costs. As usual, the customer must first be willing to invest saving but strong.

Known base

as the basis for the LPG conversion is the well-known 1.4-liter four-cylinder with 87 hp. He expected to create up to 1,200 miles a piece by the bivalent interpretation. Gas and gasoline tank each hold 35 liters. Consumption in the NEDC’s Opel to 6.9 (LPG) and 5.5 liters. Expressed in CO2 are the 112 (LPG) and 129 g / km, which once again demonstrates the potential savings of LPG. With fuel monitor the average of the 87-PS-Adams is currently at 6.75 liters.

The pure fuel costs fall on LPG of course much cheaper. Based on the current average prices of LPG (0.75 €) and Super E10 (1.55 €) and the NEDC based, cost 100 km on LPG 5.18, against 8.53 € with gasoline. At 15,000 km per year, the customer saves around 500 euros. After almost four years or 60,000 kilometers, the buyer has the additional charge of 1,900 euro against the Adam 1.4 in it again. Interestingly, the LPG version seems to be on the market without start-stop system

Expensive but very well equipped

The remaining differences are small.. Acceleration and elasticity to allow gas to a minimum, the differences are likely to be felt in everyday life hardly. The LPG version has five Nm less torque than the petrol engine and weighs about 40 kilograms more. The top speed of 176 km / h remains the same.

The starting price of 16,150 euros for the LPG version, however, is fierce, especially as the long options list still holds all kinds of bait. On the other hand, the basic equipment “Jam” for the LPG variant is already bringing a lot of conveniences with: For CD radio with handsfree and USB port, leather steering wheel, cruise control, air conditioning and 16-inch alloy wheels must themselves often pay higher classes separately. In addition, the Adam inside not know how many of its competitors, gives the impression of a savings model. Even more interesting than the LPG version might still be the new three-cylinder will move in the first half of 2014 in the Adam.
