Munich, 4 October 2013 – The next-generation Mini, which goes on sale in March 2014, is optically rather a revolution. Rather, it resembles the two quite successful predecessors, which is not surprising given the sales figures. Finally, BMW with the Mini probably the most popular retro design in the program. And so the changes can be found mainly in secret – and there is a lot going on.

precursor: the three-cylinder mini

The third mini modern times gets a completely new engine, which is necessary because you have to hold just with the previous entry-level versions that they were a success in spite of their characteristics. The new three-and four-cylinder are provided without exception with a turbocharger and direct injection. The three cylinders each have one, the four-cylinder with two counter-rotating balance shafts. That all engines fulfill the Euro 6 emissions standard, with flaming new machines is not unusual anymore – after all, it is for newly homologated vehicles from 1 September 2014 mandatory for all new cars a year later. The gasoline engines have variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust and fully variable Valvetronic valve lift.

Provisional basis will be a three-cylinder turbocharged and 1.5 liter displacement and an output 136 hp. He is at 1250/min a maximum torque of 220 Nm is available and will probably replace sooner or later also the engine in the 116i and the 316i, although this is not so long in the market. This machine is probably the weakest on a temporary basis, because in the long run would be 136 hp mini buyers most likely too much – they have been finally resorted mainly to small engines.

The successor to the 184-hp engine in the Cooper S is again a four-cylinder, which will offer a little more than 190 hp. Its maximum torque of 280 Nm is also on at 1250/min. Here, too, is likely to eventually replace the 184-horsepower gasoline engine from BMW this machine – at least in the 320i. It is also conceivable that separates from the BMW 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 170 hp in the 118i in favor of this engine. In the current 5 Series, the new mini motor will probably not come – for the next generation, which is likely 2015/2016 roll to dealers, we would not rule it out.

small diesel

back to the next mini, which also gets new diesel engines. The common-rail fuel injection bar with a maximum pressure of 2000 – Volvo operates in its new diesel engines with 2500th To start the kids there is a 1.5-liter three-cylinder with 116 hp and 270 Nm. He will inherit the 112-hp engine in the Cooper D. Consumption is compared to the previous fall by about seven percent. If true, his NEDC consumption would be around 3.5 l/100 km for the previous 112-horsepower 3.8-liter engine took there.
